What exactly is Building Biology?

Building Biology is the study of the holistic relationship between

humans and their living and work environment.

Many, many years ago when the human shifted from hunting to farming, permanent dwellings were necessary to protect the people against the elements, human enemies and predators. The
type of dwelling and the
building materials used were
basically determined by naturally available resources in the region.
Humans were able to plan and build their own dwellings mostly based on their needs and
creativity. Building techniques began to change around the middle of the last century when developed countries began manufacturing artificial building materials and home furnishings at low cost. Because of a
lack of regulations a vast variety of
chemicals, additives and compounds
found their way into our living rooms.
Formaldehyde, fire retardants,
lead and asbestos to just name a few.
Although being able to create all these materials at low cost was an achievement, the human body was not designed to absorb and digest all these new artificial additives. The consequences are allergies, respiratory diseases, rashes, lower immunity and more. Numerous chemicals have been linked to different forms of cancer, lung diseases and neurological issues.
